Relate: For Leaders

What these exercises are

Each one is a structured way to record how you see yourself right now. You answer, we organize the answers, and you get back a picture you can act on. That is the whole claim, and it is worth more than it sounds: most leaders have never seen their own self-perception laid out in one place.

What they rest on

They rest on a method, a body of practice, and a book. They do not rest on a research program. These instruments have not been validated against outcomes and they have not been normed against a defined population. They sit in a different category from the validated psychometric assessments an organization buys for selection work, which carry published evidence and normative samples behind them. Treat a result here with the weight of a good conversation, because that is what it is built to start.

Where you will see other people's results

Once enough leaders have completed an exercise, your report shows you where your answers sit alongside theirs. That comparison describes the readers who have taken it. It is a self-selected group of people who bought a book, so it grows and changes every week. It carries no norm and no benchmark, and it is there to give your own answers some texture.

The Leader Gravity Profile is a preference sorter

Affinity, not ability. At your gravity point you feel energized. Away from it, you feel stressed or bored. A pole you score low on is a preference you hold less strongly, and it says nothing at all about how well you can work there. The Gravity Profile shows you where you like to stand. It does not measure what you are capable of.

Where these results do not belong

Do not use any result from this site to make a decision about someone's employment. That covers hiring, promotion, placement, compensation, performance rating and any list of who is ready for what. These instruments are self-reported, unvalidated, and easy to answer the way you wish you were. They would be a poor basis for that decision and an unfair one.

If an employer asks you to share a result, that is your choice and you are free to decline. Your responses are yours, no employer has access to this site's data, and nobody is sent your report but you.

This is not clinical care

These exercises are professional development. They are not therapy, not assessment, and not treatment, and they do not create a clinical relationship with anyone. If something here opens up a difficulty that needs real care, please take it to a licensed professional where you live.
